The university reserves the right to extend this agreement to cover the functional lifetime of the equipment (estimated at a maximum of 30 years) therefore the total estimated value of award is up to £4m.

3. Explanation
This is a direct award to Jeol U.K. Limited for an initial five year agreement for ongoing warranty and support for an existing Electron Beam Lithography (EBL) System. This instrument is critical to the operation of the Class 5 Clean Room and is used by academic and industrial research partners to further global research in this field. The instrument is in-situ and functional, and no-one other than the original manufacturer can provide the ongoing warranty/support required. Whilst the initial extension is for a five year period, the university reserves the right to further extend the support for the useful life of the instrument under this award (estimated at a maximum of 30 years).
