Needles must be delivered preloaded with custom loaded seed arrangements according to a patient's pre plan. Seeds within the needle must be connected together at 10mm intervals and if required at custom intervals (multiples of any intervals between 4.5-5.5mm are acceptable) as dictated by the patient pre plan, so that the seeds remain connected together within the prostate to avoid seed migration. For the purpose of this tender process, the method of connecting the seeds shall be irrelevant save that the seeds must be connected in such a way that enables them to meet the Trust's requirements. Accordingly, the seeds may be linked or stranded together into the required configuration. For the purpose of this tender process stranded seeds are when multiple seeds and spacers are interlinked by sutures of a braided structure or otherwise connecting the seeds together in a linear array that maintains the source spacing after implantation and linked seeds are seeds held together by connectors which also serve as spacers connecting the seeds together in a linear array that maintains the source spacing after implantation.

A Variseed v9.0 planning system or equivalent with a minimum of 2 licensed terminals (one of which should be laptop configuration) plus associated support contract is required.

The trust usage is approximately 9000 seeds annually with a range of activities from 0.3 mCi to 0.6 mCi

The Trust requires 5 additional seeds for assay from each certified batch without requiring opening of sterile packaging of the clinical seeds. The Trust also requires a fully functional PTW Source Check ionisation chamber or equivalent isolation chamber plus associated seed holder for assay of the seeds.

Seeds must be delivered within 5 working days of the Trust placing the order
