Wheatley Group is about to embark on an exercise to procure the contracts through which the long term service provision of ‘Roof Rent’ or purchased installed solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on residential and commercial properties owned by members of the Wheatley Group, shall be procured.
As part of the continuous improvement programme, in 2012 Glasgow Housing Association (GHA) installed 500 solar photovoltaic systems on their properties, using mono-crystalline PV arrays comprising 1.8 kW to 2.45kW peak. In addition, Cube Housing has installed PV on high rise blocks, and Loretto has installed a number of installations on sheltered housing and commercial units across Scotland.
It is envisaged that an estimated 8000 house type properties may have Solar PV fitted in the initial call off from this framework. There will be support for this project from
•Energy Team, who will manage the day-to-day project delivery and assist with any requirements as a first point of contact for the appointed supplier.
•Local asset officers, who will assist with overseeing installation and ensuring WHG assets are protected.
•Housing Officers, who will liaise with tenants to help with communication and access.
•Fuel Advisors, who will support tenants to make the most of their new PV system once installed.
There is an expectation that this procurement shall be required to fulfil obligations for community benefits & the Wheatley Pledge. With regards to the community benefits we shall expect as a minimum a commitment of 10% of staff to be recruited as new entrants. The expectation under the Wheatley pledge shall be that the applicant shall endeavour to employ members of staff utilising the Wheatley pledge grant & or they shall provide some other benefit to the local community such as charitable donations or volunteering time.
