      II.2.1)Total quantity or scope:
      Basildon Borough Council (the "Council") wishes to select a maximum of ten providers to the framework for Arboriculture services. However, the Council reserves the right to appoint fewer than ten suppliers to the framework. The Council will in the tender documentation address social value aims in line with its considerations under the Social Value Act 2012. This is a part B service and as such is not fully subject to the Directive 2004/18/EC. However in order to uphold the principles of an open, transparent and proportionate competitive process and to achieve value for money the Council has advertised this contract following notification in OJEU (Official Journal of the European Union). Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced organisations who wish to be considered to provide Arboricultural services to Basildon Borough Council. The Services comprise of Arboriculture works to trees throughout the Boroughs open spaces. Basildon has a large quantity of trees throughout its parks, streets and open spaces. The Arboriculture section specifies the services to be carried out to the trees within the Borough and organise tree contractors to undertake the service. Contractors can be asked to carry out a number of tree surgery services from light column clearance to crown reductions on a range of sizes and different species of tree. The service is to be carried out on highways, open spaces, housing land and parks for a number of different reasons.
