This work will be conducted in two phases, will cover all 11 local authorities in Northern Ireland and will serve to update the department’s understanding of household waste composition.

The work is intended to:
Provide data on the arisings and compositional breakdown of kerbside collected residual waste, organic waste and dry recycling for every local authority in Northern Ireland.
Provide data on the arisings and compositional breakdown of kerbside collected residual waste, organic waste and dry recycling for Northern Ireland as a whole (based on weighed data from the local authority analyses).
Provide data on the composition of the HWRC residual waste stream.
Provide insight into the composition and potential reusability of furniture and electrical items brought to HWRCs by residents.
