Short Description: | An intrusive site investigation to establish the geotechnical, geo-environmental and chemical properties of the ground conditions under the proposed Smithfield Riverside project in Shrewsbury, over a number of locations around the former Riverside shopping centre and surrounds. Specific requirements include: • Six Cable Percussion holes to 45m bgl to investigate alluvial and glacial strata within a buried glacial channel, including SPT tests and sample extraction; • Five Cable Percussion holes as above and to determine depth to bedrock depth with core samples. Cable percussion holes to 50m bgl or bedrock encountered, then follow on rotary core 10m into bedrock; • In-situ falling head permeability tests in three holes. Falling head tests at 6m, 15m and 30m depths; • Eleven Cone Penetration Tests with pore pressure measurement (CPTUs) to a depth of 35m bgl,; • Four groundwater monitoring installations – sampling and level monitoring; • Geotechnical, geo-environmental and chemical testing. • Traffic management at exploratory hole locations. • Provision of a full factual report. Estimated Value of Works / Services Required: Estimated between £200,000 and £315,000 Prequalifying requirements: • Competency for executing works to ICE Specification for Ground Engineering and relevant British Standards or equivalent European Standards, including BS EN 1997-2, BS EN ISO 22475-1, BS EN ISO22475-2, BS EN ISO 22475-3, BS 1377, BS 5930 and BS 10175. • Management system: Quality as BS EN ISO 9001; Safety as as ISO45001 or BS EN ISO 9001; Environmental as ISO14001 • Sufficiently trained competent staff as CAR 2012, CAR-SOIL and applicable code(s) of practice. • Competent to work within / adjacent to public highway, and to Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual (DFT, 2006) and Local Authority requirements. • Compliant with safety requirements & guidance of HSG 66 (1991), CIRIA 132 (1996) and Annex C of BS 10175. • UKAS accreditation for laboratory testing Desirable: • Provide an environmental scientist, geo-environmental engineer or geochemist with a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience. Provide CVs for all proposed site staff. |
