Short Description: This project is focused on how local streetworks authorities can deliver a better service that addresses the negative impacts highlighted above. Specifically, it needs to explore solutions that will enable: •Better use of new and emerging tech that supports more effective planning and coordination, and reduction of disruption; including looking at potential provided by AI (artificial intelligence) and digital technologies, as well as ideas and good practice from international sources. •Greater collaboration and learning from good practice – are highways authorities making use of all the available regulatory options, e.g. Lane Rental schemes; are there good examples of non-regulatory and voluntary agreements that achieve better outcomes for all. •Works that maintain access for all, ie take into account the needs of less abled people. The outputs will feed into a broader piece of work which will also look at regulatory/ legislative improvements, which is outside the scope of this commission.
