The Government recognises that the availability of good quality, affordable childcare is key to enabling women to work – both to support their families and to realise their career ambitions. The Government is therefore keen to boost the provision of childcare in England.

The Government announced in November that it will be making £2 million available to fund new childcare businesses in England, beginning in April 2013. The scheme will run for one year (or until funding is exhausted). The grant scheme will form one part of a start-up support package, specially tailored to help people get new childcare businesses off the ground.
