Notice type: | Contract Notice |
Authority: | Wakefield and District Housing |
Nature of contract: | Services |
Procedure: | Competitive Dialogue |
Short Description: | Wakefield and District Housing (WDH) is one of the UK’s leading housing providers, recognised by a series of awards including Inside Housing Social Landlord of the Year 2013, and being a EFQM European Excellence Award finalist. WDH own and manage 31,000 homes for rent, and also provide repairs services to other organisations and customers for a further 10,000 homes. WDH currently has a corporate Wide Area Network (WAN) using leased fibre lines to connect its 13 main offices located in Wakefield City and towns across the district, and a range of connection types to around 45 Independent Living Schemes. WDH is now seeking to replace this WAN predominantly with a high speed, high capacity and highly reliable wireless infrastructure that generates substantial annual savings in comparison to the current solution by having minimal annual revenue costs. These projected savings are to be invested in creating a wireless network to cover our social housing stock, comprising c. 31,000 properties located across the 338 sq.km Wakefield District. This network is to provide free-of-charge internet access for our tenants, residents and small local businesses, and is to be supported by a comprehensive range of digital inclusion activities and end-user customer support. The public internet access and associated support services should be at no or minimal ongoing cost to WDH. This tender is to provide both the corporate wireless WAN, the public WAN, and the associated digital inclusion and customer support services as a single, integrated solution. Ownership of the procured infrastructure is intended to be held by WDH with an initial period comprising 3 years maintenance and support of the network to be provided for within the agreed solution.. Innovative and sustainable commercial proposals for ensuring the ongoing provision of free internet and digital inclusion services are however welcomed as part of the competitive dialogue process. |
