All permanent and temporary works associated with carriageway widening along the Upper Newtownards Road between Sandown Rd and Knock Road junctions to facilitate implementation of the Eastway Belfast Rapid Transit Network. The new cross-section will include two inbound and two outbound lanes (nearside lane in each direction will be a dedicated bus lane). Lay-bys will be included at various points along the scheme to improve parking provision in the area. Existing drainage networks will be upgraded to include kerb inlet gullies, reducing carriageway ironworks and improving bus ride quality. To maintain suitable footway widths, it will be necessary to trim back existing boundary hedges.

The issue of a Certificate of Unsatisfactory Performance will result in the contractor being excluded from all procurement competitions being undertaken by Centres of Procurement Expertise on behalf of bodies covered by the Northern Ireland Procurement Policy for a period of twelve months from the date of issue of the certificate.
