The University of Liverpool is looking for a commercialisation partner that will actively engage with the University management, academics, licensees and other potential funders of intellectual property for the purposes of generating impact and deal flow.

Within our model we are seeking a partner who will inform the general academic community of the importance of IP protection and build relationships with Departments in order to be aware of inventions as they are being developed and to identify opportunities for licensing and spin-out creation. This will include rapid initial due diligence of the patent landscape, commercial value assessment and business case generation with recommended route to exploitation. We expect that this will be an ongoing activity requiring frequent engagement across the University therefore expertise in engineering and the medical, physical and biological sciences is an essential minimum.


Our partner will be paid on a fee-for-service basis and will act as an independent advisor with no automatic right to ownership of identified IP or subsequent equity in any spin out activity. Our preferred partner will be invited to be part of the process for generating the operational aspects of the model in preparation for a contract start date in the autumn of 2013.

Those shortlisted will be required to attend an interview which will include a presentation by the applicants of their IP management philosophy and strategy for the management of their teams and delivery of the project.
