II.2.1)Total quantity or scope:
The successful bidders will commission a new care home with a minimum of 60 beds providing personal and nursing care for older people and a new care home with a minimum of 60 beds for people with Dementia on sites previously occupied by two of the council’s directly managed homes. The freehold sites will be sold to the Council’s chosen partners and organisations are welcome to bid to provide one or both of the care homes.
One home is envisaged as a replacement for the Council’s specialist residential home providing personal care to residents with Dementia. The existing residents and current staff will be transferred in line with the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 2006.
The second home which is not intended as a replacement for an existing home and is planned to be a care home providing nursing care and personal care for older people. No transfer of council staff is envisaged.
On completion of full CQC compliance and registration of each home the Council will enter into block contracts for 30 beds in each home.

The decision has been taken for the following reason:
•The proposed cost of the provision of the services is outside of the funding parameters which have now been set by the Council for future funding.
The Council regrets that it has been necessary to abandon this procedure and is grateful for your interest in it.
