      Welwyn Hatfield Council (hereinafter referred to as the Council) has in place a Capital programme to redevelop the former Lido site in Stanborough Park, Welwyn Garden City.

The first stage of the project has been to build a High Ropes facility and remediate the former Lido site that can then be redeveloped Further information on the high ropes can be found at http://www.welhat.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=4892. It is planned for this first stage of the project to be completed in the summer of 2013, when the High Ropes facility will be open.

The Council will then start the second stage of the project that is likely to include:

•   design and construction of a wet play park on the former lido site;
•   a new café to service both the high ropes and wet play areas;
•   a community / educational building to support these new facilities;
•   improvement works to the existing WC block;
•   enhancements to the car parking area; and
•   road access and junction improvements to and from Stanborough Road.

The Council is currently undertaking an option and business case appraisal for these options and is expected to have the preferred options agreed in late April 2013.

The site is currently (and will continue to be operated) by the Finesse Leisure and more information on the site can be found on their website http://www.finesseleisure.com/watersports.

The Council now requires an experienced Project Manager to oversee the second stage of the project. This will include full Project Management services including design, specification and supervision of the main contractor(s).

It is envisaged that the appointment will commence in September 2013 and continue to the end of the construction period.
