BEIS intends to appoint a contractor(s) to deliver an agreed hydrogen gas quality standard to inform the development of a range of hydrogen appliances and testing / certification capability as an integral part of the Hy4Heat programme, to de-risk the use of hydrogen for heat in UK homes and businesses. The work is likely to include research and development to determine the most suitable option(s) from existing standards, considering the need for odorant and colorant, cost implications, and may involve working with recognized standards bodies for the gas industry. The work will be managed and coordinated by Arup+, who have been appointed by BEIS as the programme management contractor for the Hy4Heat programme. The contract will be divided into two lots which may be awarded individually or in groups.

BEIS, with the support of Arup+ as programme management contractor, intends to appoint a contractor(s) to deliver a contract up to a total of 400,000 GBP to research and test various aspects related to hydrogen gas (colorant & odorant) and define a hydrogen gas quality standard under an open tender procedure.
