Short Description: Braintree District Council (BDC) is commissioning consultants to undertake a Sustainability Appraisal (SA) on the emerging Local Plan as required by the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004. The SA should meet all the requirements of the Environmental Assessment of Plans and Programmes Regulations 2004. The consultants will be required to work interactively with the Council throughout the Local Plan process through implementing the following stages of the SA process; Stage A – Evidence Gathering and Scoping Report; Stage B – Developing and Refining Options; Stage C – Prepare the SA report; Stage D – Consulting on SA and Local Plan/Examination and Stage E – Post Adoption Reporting and Monitoring. Consultants will also be required to review existing Habitat Regulation Assessment (HRA) documents produced for the Core Strategy, and subsequent comments and recommendations and where appropriate build upon this in preparing a HRA for the emerging Local Plan.
