II.1.4) Short description:
The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) is intending to procure a research, evidence and translation programme to provide climate services for its workstreams.
The programme will provide up-to-date policy-relevant evidence and scientific advice to inform BEIS policy workstreams. The service will provide transdisciplinary underpinning analysis and modelling, covering a range of sectors including the state of the climate, climate impacts, co-benefits of climate action, decarbonisation pathways, and greenhouse gas removal technologies. It will also provide a comprehensive user-centred translation service including use of innovative data visualisation tools and communications techniques.
A supplier information day will be held on September 22nd 2020 and an ITT with the full research requirement will be published following this event. Attendance at the supplier day is not a pre-requisite for participation in the ITT.

II.2.4) Description of the procurement:
This procurement seeks to appoint a Contractor to deliver a major new climate services programme. The programme will provide underpinning research and evidence on climate impacts to natural and human systems, global decarbonisation, and the co-benefits of climate mitigation and adaptation. It will also include an evidence translation and advice service covering the same topics, and in addition for the state of the climate, trends and projections for key climate variables, and greenhouse gas removal technologies.
The Contractor would be expected to provide new policy-relevant evidence to address a range of research questions in these areas, and will be expected to maintain a broad range of expertise in the relevant topics. Evidence translation and communication will form a key part of this, and Contractors will be expected to co-produce several products with policy teams, including innovative data visualisation tools to enable teams to explore and understand climate information.
