Traders Support Service
On 20th May, HMG published ‘The UK’s Approach to the Northern Ireland Protocol’ which set out that the Protocol can be implemented in a way that would protect the interests of the people and economy of Northern Ireland, ensure the effective working of the UK’s internal market, provide appropriate protection for the EU Single Market and uphold the rights of all Northern Ireland’s citizens.
Our proposals, as set out in the command paper, aim to deliver unfettered access for Northern Ireland businesses to the whole of the UK market; ensure there are no tariffs on goods remaining within the UK customs territory; discharge our obligations without the need for any new customs infrastructure in Northern Ireland and, finally, guarantee that Northern Ireland businesses benefit from the lower tariffs we deliver through our new Free Trade Agreements with third countries.

What are we procuring?
An end to end service to support businesses with new administrative processes under the Northern Ireland Protocol. HMRC wants to test the market for a service that can:
•identify and support the education of traders and carriers about their obligations under the Northern Ireland Protocol; and
•make electronic declarations to relevant HMRC systems.
II.2.14) Additional information
A group briefing and Supplier 1-2-1’s will be held virtually in July 2020n. In order to register interest suppliers will need to access HMRC’s instance of SAP Ariba and answer the questions therein by 12th July 2020.
