The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) is looking to launch an electrification of heat demonstration project in 2019. This proposed project forms part of the heat strategy programme of work to build the evidence base around the different options for decarbonising heat.
The project aims to help better understand the feasibility of a possible large-scale transition to heat pumps and develop innovative solutions that work for a wide range of houses and consumers. It is expected to include home suitability surveys to assess the feasibility of any heat pump installations, which will be followed by targeted installations across several hundred domestic on-gas grid properties.
We are hosting a pre-procurement event, to inform stakeholders of our draft project proposals and timelines, and to build market insight in product, system or business innovations.

This project will be managed by a Project Delivery Contractor, who will be expected to build a consortia that will recruit consumers, install equipment in people’s homes and deliver technical and consumer research.
