      HAN Connected Auxiliary Load Control Switch (HCALCS) are defined under the Smart Energy Code (SEC Schedule 9); however, no devices have to date been built to this Specification. We are seeking to procure services to design, build and trial an HCALCS, combined with an application such as EV charging, which uses smart meter communications infrastructure.

   II.2.4) Description of the procurement:       
      The project would include several stages:
1.Design, develop and build a device consistent with the HCALCS Specification as detailed in the smart energy code;
2.Test and assure the device through the NCSC Commercial Product Assurance Scheme;
3.Manufacture 100 devices;
4.Install and trial these devices in 100 homes; and
5.Produce a ‘specification scoping document’ based on the outcome of the trial and industry engagement, to document any required additional functionality and provide a basis for development of a new device specification.
We will engage with a range of stakeholders to inform the overall project and tender requirements. Specifically, to input on best approaches to deliver the project, potential costs, any technical concerns or risks with project objectives, and/or any other feedback.       We are finalising arrangements to engage with Technical and Business Design Group on 17 Oct 2018, and the EV task force at the next most relevant working group (TBC). We believe both industry groups will cover all relevant stakeholder groups. We’ll use both groups to provide further details on the PIN and Tender and invite the interested parties to a Q&A session (TBC).
