4. Description: Transport systems consultancy services. The Museum of London has appointed a Transport Consultancy for its New Museum West Smithfield Project. The proposed new museum site at West Smithfield is located in the City of London and covers approximately 25,000 sq m. The site includes the now disused General Market, the Fish Market, the triangular Red House, the Iron Mountain site and the basement of the listed 1960s Poultry Market. This unique project – re-imagining a nationally significant landmark – requires an outstanding and experienced Transport Consultant who will need to liaise with the other consultants as part of a multi-disciplinary team that will require extensive research and competencies to ensure a successful outcome.
The successful Transport Consultancy will provide extensive assessments and strategies in relation to the New Museum West Smithfield Project. The Consultant will provide outstanding advocacy and leadership while supporting the Museum of London in shaping area-wide transport and public realm strategies. They will be required to input and support the planning application in parallel with developing and delivering the transport assessment, travel plan, delivery servicing plan, and a logistics plan. The Consultant is familiar with implementing phasing strategies that demonstrate how the proposed traffic and pedestrian flow management strategies will be managed, during the construction phase and in use - responding to current and anticipated future neighboring land uses, including the London General Markets. They should be competent in providing specific design advice on technical aspects of public realm and general design where related to transport and/or servicing of the site.
