Under the umbrella of V&A East, the V&A is creating two ambitious new public sites; one is a dynamic museum at Stratford Waterfront and the other a major centre for collection, research and learning at Here East (within the former Olympic Broadcasting Centre), both part of the Cultural and Educational District (CED) in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

V&A East will be a place for discovery, learning, research, production and display, which will significantly expand the museum’s reach and impact. It will enable open and enhanced access to the V&A’s collection, and together with new research, and public programmes, we will shape the designers, makers, thinkers and curators of the future.

      II.2.4) Description of procurement: The V&A is looking for an architect, or collaboration of architects and designers, who are inspired by our vision to make a significant proportion of our objects accessible in a new facility in Stratford. It’s an unusual project so collaborations are encouraged to ensure that the range of skills required for the Collection and Research Centre are available to the museum.

The winning practice(s) will be appointed to design the collections centre from Stage 1 to 6. However, the V&A reserves the right to phase the project. The below estimated value is based on 8%; please note that the build budget excluding fees is £25m. We estimate that fees for this contract will be between 6% and 8%.
